Creative Thinking:
Need to work overtime every weekend, but not getting enough volunteers.
A customer of 16 years was constantly faced with running overtime on Saturday and Sunday to meet increased demand. It was getting increasingly more difficult to staff each day on the weekend, as the staff were growing reluctant to volunteer. Mandating OT was creating loss in employee morale, plus their costs were ballooning as a result of the excess overtime. Our solution was to create two new weekend shifts that worked two, 12 hour shifts. Employees who completed the 24 hours received top up pay to 40 hours all at regular rate. The cost difference between the regular rate and the overtime was a savings to the customer, plus there was no longer a burden of having enough staff for the weekend.
Large Scale Precision Staffing
Opening a new plant but don’t have the staff to staff the place.
A manufacturing plant was relocating to a new facility and only a small number of staff agreed to the relocation. To have a seamless transition to their operations, and no disruption to customers, the company turned to us to develop a strategy to staff all vacancies. We created staffing two teams, the first team was tasked with recruiting the salaried management talent, and the other team was to fill the hourly operation talent roles. The timing was very tight, but the two-pronged approach was successful, and the operation had a seamless transition with zero customer disruption.
Long Distance Assistance:
New product launch at an OEM, our customer from outside of Canada needed a reliable representatives.
New product launches are a stressful time, and for our customer outside of Canada it was a rocky start. A quality issue in a part they supplied was identified, and it was jeopardizing the successful launch of a new vehicle launch. We were tasked with putting together a qualified team, that could provide around the clock representation on behalf of the customer at various stages of the supply chain process. Which included the tier one supplier, cross-dock assembly and on the line at the OEM. Plus, put together a team to oversee the vehicles on yard hold requiring testing and a rework plan. Through years of experience, and connections, we had a crew of Quality representatives, with vast quality expertise, in place in 3 days. This team worked together and represented the customer for over 4 months until all outstanding issues had been resolved.
